  1. Stay calm and reassure the casualty  
  2. Get him or her to lie down  
  3. If the snake is known to be poisonous seek immediate medical attention  
  4. Do not attempt to suck out the venom  
  5. Move the affected part as little as possible as each movement increases the venom circulation  
  6. Do not apply ice  
  7. Firmly apply a bandage to the bite, winding up from the bit as high as possible toward the heart  
  8. Do not use a tourniquet  
  9. If the bite is on a limb, splint (bind the injured limb to rigid material) to immobilize completely  
  10. Call the local Poison Information Centre or phone 10111  
  11. Be prepared to do Artificial respiration if necessary  
  12. Transport the victim to the nearest medial aid center, moving the bitten part as little as possible  
  13. If possible, bring the snake with you. Ensure that the snake is dead as they often feign death.
